Hansen advances to 100m breaststroke semifinals at Beijing Olympics
Aug. 9, 2008 BEIJING -- Texas-Ex Brendan Hansen placed fourth in his 100-meter breaststroke preliminary-round heat and tied for 10th place overall to advance to the semifinals Saturday evening at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. (Photo: AP/Kienzle) Hansen, who holds the two fastest times ever recorded in the event, finished in 1 minute, 0.36 seconds to tie for 10th overall and land a spot in Sunday morning's semifinals.Hansen will compete in the second semifinal heat, which will air live Saturday on NBC at approximately 10:07 p.m. Central. Austria's Alexander Oen landed the top seed at 59.41, while Japan's Kosuke Kitajima took second in 59.52.
