Dumais claims three-meter at USA Diving Championships

PASADENA, Calif. -- Texas-Ex Troy Dumais captured the three-meter event in his final tune-up before the 2008 Summer Olympic Games Sunday afternoon at the 2008 Kaiser Permanente USA Diving National Championships. Dumais, who continues to train in Austin under UT diving coach Matt Scoggin, claimed the event with a final total of 521.90, topping second-place Kristian Ipsen, who totaled 482.70. Texas rising senior Jonathan Wilcox took fourth at 412.30, while rising sophomore Matt Cooper placed sixth at 406.20. Cooper also teamed with Harrison Jones to take second in the three-meter synchronized diving event with a total of 399.33. UT rising junior Mike Wong teamed up with Rex Hughes to place sixth in the event at 329.97. Dumais and Texas-Ex Laura Wilkinson, who placed second in the women's platform event Sunday afternoon, will join Scoggin at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, China. Scoggin will serve as an assistant diving coach for Team USA.
