RIO de JANEIRO -- University of Texas rising sophomore Ricky Berens completed a successful run through the 100-meter butterfly competition by placing fifth in the event Wednesday at the 2007 Pan American Games at Parque Aquatico. Berens (Charlotte, N.C.) topped the 53-second barrier for the first time by clocking 52.98 for fifth place, despite completing the event in lane eight.
