Hoyland, Friedland compete in 100 breast finals at Austin Grand Prix
March 6, 2009 AUSTIN, Texas -- University of Texas women's swimming and diving junior Alexi Spann and men's swimming and diving freshmen Matt Hoyland and Eric Friedland competed in the 100-meter breaststroke finals Friday evening on day two of the 2009 USA Swimming Austin Grand Prix. Spann took eighth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.81, while Texas-Ex Elizabeth Tinnon took second in 1:09.49. UT women's swimming and diving signee Laura Sogar (Exeter, R.I.) took sixth in 1:11.20. On the men's side, Hoyland took sixth in the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:03.42. Friedland placed seventh in 1:03.50. The 2009 USA Swimming Austin Grand Prix continues Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Central at UT's Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
