Big 12 announces Swimming and Diving 10th Anniversary teams
DALLAS -- Fifteen past and two current members of The University of Texas men's and women's swimming and diving teams have been named to the Big 12 Conference's 10th Anniversary Team, as selected by the league's head coaches. In order to be eligible for consideration, candidates must have been an event winner at the Big 12 Championships. Anniversary teams are being chosen for each conference sport during the 2005-06 season in celebration of the Big 12's 10th Anniversary. Among those honored were two current UT swimmers, senior Elizabeth Wycliffe (Kingston, Ontario) and junior Elizabeth Tinnon (Bowling Green, Ky.) Wycliffe has earned four Big 12 Championships and Tinnon has earned 11 titles. Also being honored by the Big 12 are UT alumni Colleen Lanne' (2000, '01), Ariadne Legendre (1998, '99, '00), Vera Llyina (1997, '98), Erin Maher (1998, '99), Sarah Wanezek (2003, '04, '05) and Laura Wilkinson (1997, '98, '99). For the men, Ian Crocker (2001, '02, '03 '04), Troy Dumais (2000, '01, '02), Nate Dusing (1998, '99, '00, '01), Scott Goldblatt (1998, '99, '00, '01), Tom Hannan (1999, '00, '01), Brenden Hansen (2001, '02, '03, '04), Ranier Kendrick (2002, '03, '04), Jamie Rauch (1998, '00, '01) and Matt Ulrickson (1998, '99, '00) were all honored by the Big 12. Both Wycliffe and Tinnon are currently in Columbia, Mo. competing with the UT squad at the 2006 Big 12 Championships. Entering Saturday's finals (6 p.m. CST), the Texas women are in first-place with a total of 683.5 points, followed by Texas A&M with 527 points and Kansas with 310 points. The men leading with 731.5 points are followed by Texas A&M with 557.5 points and Missouri with 469 points.
