Men's Swimming and Diving preview: American Short Course Championships
WHAT: American Short Course Championships, a meet featuring professional, college and club swimmers from around the nation; the meet serves as one of the last opportunities for collegiate swimmers to earn their NCAA automatic- and provisional-qualifying cuts. The men's meet features former Longhorns and current world-record holders Ian Crocker (100-meter butterfly, 400-meter medley relay), Brendan Hansen (100- and 200-meter breaststroke, 400 medley relay) and Neil Walker (400-meter freestyle relay). Jason Lezak, who teamed with Hansen, Crocker and former Longhorn Aaron Peirsol to set a new world record in the 400-meter medley relay at the 2004 Summer Olympics, also is slated to compete this weekend in Austin.
WHEN: Thursday, Feb. 22-Saturday, Feb. 24; preliminary rounds begin at 9:30 a.m. Central with finals beginning at 5:30 p.m.
WHERE: Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center - Austin, Texas
TICKETS: For Adults: all-session passes cost $25 on Thursday, $18 on Friday and $10 on Saturday; for students with ID, children ages 3-12 and seniors over 55, all-session passes sell for $20 on Thursday, $13 on Friday and $8 on Saturday. Single-session passes are $5 for adults and $4 for students with ID, children aged 3-12 and seniors over age 55.
Tickets may be purchased at the Longhorn Aquatics store, located on the second level of the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center, through Wednesday, Feb. 21. Beginning Thursday, Feb. 22, tickets may be purchased at the ticket booth in the main upper-level entrance beginning one hour before the start of the scheduled meet session.
