DALLAS -- The Texas men's swimming and diving team closed out the regular season Saturday with a 153.5-123.5 dual meet victory over Southern Methodist in Dallas led by Garrett Weber-Gale and Michael Klueh who both recorded a pair of first-place finishes at Perkins Natatorium.
A Longhorn touched the wall first in eight out of 15 events and Texas finishes the year with a 5-3 overall dual meet record.
Weber-Gale won both the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 49.56 and the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 44.66.
Klueh finished first in the 1,000- and the 500-yard freestyle races with times of 8:57.81 and 4:27.81, respectively.
Also taking firsts on the day was Matthew McGinnis, Wade Kelley, Christian Schurr and Caleb McDermott.
McGinnis won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:36.47 and took second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:27.89.
In the 200-yard butterfly, Kelley would take top honors after posting a time of 1:50.00, while Schurr won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:00.07) and finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke (55.24).
McDermott won the 200-yard backstroke in 1:45.62 and tied for second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 49.80.
The Longhorns will return to action next when they head to Columbia, Missouri and the Big 12 Championships hosted by Missouri on Feb. 22-25.
