No. 2 Men's Swimming and Diving to host No. 9 Georgia on Saturday

AUSTIN, Texas -- The No. 2 Texas men's swimming and diving team will host No. 9 Georgia on Saturday in a dual meet at 11 a.m. in the Lee & Joe Jamail Swim Center. It will be senior day for the Longhorns with nine Texas swimmers and divers being honored prior to the meet, including Neil Caskey, Matt Cooper, Jimmy Feigen, Eric Friedland, Matt Hoyland, Hayes Johnson, Drew Livingston, Kyle McNeilis and Jackson Wilcox. The Longhorns are coming off a win in the Texas Hall of Fame Invitational Dec. 1-3 while Georgia hosted its Fall Invitational Dec. 2-4 and also hosted a Diving Invitational earlier this week, Jan. 3-5. Texas has gotten off to a good start this season with dual match victories over Indiana and SMU and a first place finish in the Southwest Collegiate Plunge to kick off the year. Texas swimmers and divers have won 33 of the 69 (.478) events they have competed in this season, including 10-of-15 against SMU, 10-of-17 in the Southwest Collegiate Plunge, 7-of-16 in the Michigan/Indiana double dual meet and 6-of-21 in the Texas Invitational. The Longhorn swimmers have posted some of the fastest times in the country this season including the fastest time nationally in the 800 freestyle relay (6:22.94). The men have several top five times including the the 50 freestyle (Jimmy Feigen, 3rd), 100 freestyle (Jimmy Feigen, 2nd and Dax Hill, 4th), 200 freestyle (Dax Hill, 2nd and Clay Youngquist, 5th), 1650 freestyle (Jackson Wilcox, 4th), 200 butterfly (Neil Caskey, 4th), 200 freestyle relay (3rd), 400 freestyle relay (2nd) and 400 medley relay (5th)
Just before Christmas Texas divers Matthew Cooper, Drew Livingston and Will Chandler were successful at the USA Diving Winter Nationals in Knoxville, Tenn. Cooper earned the highest points total award at the event and finished third in the platform competition to qualify for the Olympic trials and was seventh in the 3m springboard. Livingston was third in the 3m spirngboard event. Chandler was 12th in the platform to also qualify for the Olympic trials. Chandler and Cooper also qualified for the Olympic trials in the synchronized platform event with a fifth place finish.
