Texas wins Southwest Collegiate Plunge

MANSFIELD, Texas - The Texas Men's Swimming & Diving team captured the title at the Southwest Collegiate Plunge on Saturday at the Mansfield ISD Natatorium in Mansfield, Texas.
The Longhorns finished with 796 points, 46 more than second place Texas A&M. Missouri was in third place with 624 points followed by SMU with 621 points.
Senior Kyle McNeilis took first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:39.59. The Longhorns won both heats in the race as Jake Ritter swam a 1:41.13 for the fastest in the B heat.
The Longhorns took the top two spots in the 100-yard backstroke. Murphy won the race with a time of 49.30 while Kip Darmody was second with a time of 50.08.
In diving, Matthew Cooper took second in the three-meter event with a score of 406.40.
Next up for the Longhorns will be a trip to Ann Arbor, Mich. for a double dual with the University of Michigan and Indiana Nov. 4-5.
