Cooper, Livingston qualify for NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Texas junior diver Matt Cooper and sophomore diver Drew Livingston landed top-three finishes that enabled them to secure NCAA Championships berths Friday on day one of the NCAA Zone "D" Diving Meet at Texas A&M's Student Rec Center Natatorium. With eight NCAA Championships men's diving bids available from Zone "D", the top-three finishers in Friday's men's three-meter event were set to secure their berths at the national championships. Cooper nailed down his berth by taking second in two rounds of the three-meter event with 800.10 points, and Livingston took third place with 791.95 points. Texas junior Matt Cardell placed ninth overall with 658.50 points. Cardell will earn a NCAA Championships berth if he places in the top-three in Saturday's one-meter event. Texas A&M's Grant Nel secured the other available NCAA Championships berth available Friday after winning the three-meter event with 828.20 points.
