Men's Swimming posts six top-five finishes at American Short Course Championships

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas notched six top-five finishes on the final night of competition Saturday at the American Short Course Championships.

Texas junior Charlie Moore led the contingent of current Longhorns in the 100 freestyle, as he took second in 43.40. Freshman John Murray placed third in 43.58, and junior Bobby Button took sixth in 44.76. Sophomore Ben Anderson placed seventh in 44.79. Texas-Ex Jimmy Feigen won the event in 43.73, and Texas-Ex Garrett Weber-Gale placed fourth in 44.04.

Senior Austin Surhoff took fifth in the 200 breaststroke final in 2:00.44, and freshman Liam Lockwood placed sixth in 2:00.87. Junior Keegan Severns took seventh in 2:01.49. Freshman John Martens placed second in the 200 butterfly in 1:45.98.

Junior Patrick Murphy took the top seed in the 200 backstroke preliminary round with a solid time of 1:41.92 before scratching the event in advance of finals. Sophomore Kip Darmody added a preliminary time of 1:43.25 before scratching the event before finals. Freshman Ian LeMaistre won the consolation final in 1:48.20.

Sophomore Nick Munoz added a second-place finish in the 1,650 freestyle in 15:11.83, while freshman Patrick LaBrode took fourth in 15:31.89.
