• Placed 12th in the 200m freestyle (1:48.42/1:49.55p) and 47th in the 100m freestyle (50.70)

AS A FRESHMAN (2011-12)
• Claimed two NCAA Championships in the 400 freestyle relay (2:49.83) and 800 freestyle relay (6:15.55)
• Also picked up All-American honors in the 200 freestyle (5th, 1:34.06) and 200 freestyle relay (4th, 1:16.72)
• Won two Big 12 Championships in the 400 freestyle relay (2:52.64) and 800 freestyle relay (6:19.28) while also coming in second in the 200 freestyle (1:35.30) and seventh in the 500 freestyle (4:23.75)

BEFORE TEXAS
• Teamed up with future Longhorn teammate Kip Darmody to win gold for the USA in the 400m freestyle and medley relays at the 2010 Junior Pan Pacific Championships
• Won gold in the 200m freestyle with a meet-record time of 1:48.44 at the 2010 Junior Pan Pacific Championships, where he also won silver in the 100m freestyle
• Won the 200m freestyle (1:49.37) at the 2010 Speedo Junior National Championships
• Holds Michigan state high school records in the 50, 100, 200 and 500-yard freestyle events, in addition to the 100-yard butterfly
