Keenan and Lopez selected as Big 12 Men's Golfers of the Month
IRVING, Texas -- University of Texas senior Farren Keenan and freshman Lance Lopez were selected Wednesday as the Big 12 Conference's Men's Golfers of the Month for November after helping the Longhorns secure their second consecutive victory over the Thanksgiving holiday. Keenan (Middlesex, England) and Lopez (Missouri City, Texas) each finished at one-under par to tie for fifth place at the 54-hole Aloha Purdue Collegiate Invitational on Thanksgiving Day. Keenan (69-68-72) and Lopez (68-72-69) helped the Longhorns to their second consecutive victory, as UT defeated second-place Michigan by six strokes. Texas also defeated No. 1 Alabama and No. 8 Clemson, among five other teams. Lopez played in each of Texas' four fall tournaments, while Keenan took part in three of those events. Keenan and Lopez became Texas' first Big 12 Men's Golfers of the Month since March of 2004, when Jason Hartwick took similar honors. Keenan, Lopez and the rest of the Longhorns return to competition on Sunday, Feb. 25 at the Puerto Rico Collegiate Classic.
