Men's Golf sits in second at Aloha Purdue Collegiate Invitational

KAUAI, Hawaii -- University of Texas senior Farren Keenan (Middlesex, England) carded rounds of one-over and two-over par to lead the 23rd-ranked Longhorns Wednesday in the Aloha Purdue Collegiate Invitational at the par 70, 6,885-yard Kiahuna Golf Club. Tournament host Purdue leads the 10-team field after 36 holes at seven-over par while Texas sits closely behind in second at 10 over with 18 holes remaining.

Keenan found the Kiahuna layout to his liking despite playing through breezy and rainy conditions, carding rounds of 69 and 68 on Wednesday. Freshman Lance Lopez (Missouri City, Texas) shot rounds of 68 and 72 to finish the day at even par.

Junior Kevin Schultz (Richardson, Texas) ended the day at six-over par after shooting rounds of 71 and 75, and senior Jhonattan Vegas (Maturin, Venezuela) finished the opening rounds at eight over after carding a two-over 72 and a six-over 76.

Senior Matt Bortis (Springfield, Mo.) carded a one-over 71 in the first round but struggled through the difficult playing conditions in round two, where he totaled a nine-over 79.

Texas begins the final round of play on Thursday at 7:30 a.m. local time (12:30 p.m. Central).
