Spieth tied for 22nd place after 54 holes at PGA Tour Q-School Second Stage

Nov. 15, 2012

McKINNEY, Texas -- Sophomore All-American Jordan Spieth fired his second-consecutive 3-under-par 69 in Thursday’s third round of the PGA Tour Q-School Second Stage for a 54-hole total of 7-under 209. He is tied for 22nd place entering Friday’s final round at TPC Craig Ranch.

Spieth’s third-round scorecard included six birdies, including three-straight on the 11th, 12th and 13 holes. Bogeys at No. 3, 6 and 14 cost him three strokes to result in his second round in the 60s.

Through 54 holes, Spieth has recorded one eagle, 12 birdies and seven bogeys. Today’s six subpars were his most of any round this week at Craig Ranch.

Twenty qualifying positions (and ties) are up for grabs at Craig Ranch. The top-20 and ties following Friday’s fourth and final round will advance to the Final Qualifying Stage from Nov. 28-Dec. 3 in LaQuinta, Calif. Spieth is one stroke out of a five-way tie for 17th place.

The top-25 and ties at the final stage will earn PGA Tour cards for the 2013 season, while all players in the field will earn different levels of status on the Web.com Tour for the upcoming year.

Spieth is scheduled to tee off alongside Jason Schultz and Tim Kunick at 9:35 a.m. Friday morning on the first tee.
