Men's Golf signs Stone to National Letter of Intent

AUSTIN, Texas -- International amateur standout Brandon Stone has signed a National Letter of Intent to play men's golf next season at The University of Texas, head coach John Fields announced Monday. Stone will join the top-ranked Longhorns for the 2012-13 season.
"We are thrilled to have one of the most accomplished junior golfers in the world sign with our program," Fields said. "Brandon has won a multitude of junior and amateur events in South Africa and has world-wide experience having competed in Australia, New Zealand and all over Europe. He is a physically gifted golfer with tremendous experience."
Stone is ranked No. 1 among all amateur players in South Africa (South African Golf Association) and No. 97 worldwide per the current Royal & Ancient (R&A) Rankings.
Throughout 2011, Stone has won the Prince's Grant Invitational, Ekuruhleni Open and Limpopo Open in addition to earning South African Amateur stroke-play medalist honors. Stone was also the 2010 Southern Cape Open medalist. He is set to compete in the 2011 European PGA TOUR South African Open at Serengeti Golf Club in Ekurhuleni, South Africa, on Nov. 24-27. The South African Open will be televised by The Golf Channel.
