Men's Golf signs Lopez to National Letter of Intent
AUSTIN, Texas -- Robert Lance Lopez (Missouri City, Texas) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play golf next season at The University of Texas, head coach John Fields announced today.
"Lance has incredible potential and ability and will be a great addition to our team," Fields said. "He is a great person with a great family behind him. We are excited about his game and what he will bring to Texas."
Lopez, who attends Fort Bend Elkins High School, was an AJGA All-American as a sophomore and junior. He is a two-time winner of the Harvey Penick Championships (2004-05) held in Austin. He also was the 2004 Class 5A state medalist.
In three tournaments this fall, the No. 23-ranked UT men's golf team finished no lower than tied for seventh and as high as third. The Longhorns will compete next on Jan. 30-31, when they head to Tucson, Arizona for the PING/Arizona Intercollegiate at Arizona National Golf Course.
