McKINNEY, Texas -- Sophomore All-American Jordan Spieth will begin play in the PGA Tour Q-School Second Stage Tuesday, Nov. 13 at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas.
Tuesday’s first competitive round of the four-day, 72-hole tournament is set to begin at 8:45 a.m. Central. Following the same start time Wednesday morning, both rounds on Thursday and Friday will begin at 8 a.m. There is no cut at any point of the event.
Spieth is scheduled to play alongside Matt Bettencourt and Matt Weibrng beginning on the first tee at 9:05 a.m. Tuesday and at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday on the 10th tee.
Spieth is currently No. 5 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings. This fall, he finished second at the Carpet Capital Collegiate, 35th at the PING/Golfweek Preview and fifth at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational.
Spieth earned an exemption into Q-School’s second stage after making the cut at this summer’s U.S. Open, which was his first appearance in one of golf’s four major tournaments. He finished tied for 21st place and earned low amateur honors.
A percentage of the field (to be determined by the PGA Tour) will advance to the final qualifying stage from Nov. 28-Dec. 3 in LaQuinta, Calif. The top-25 and ties will earn PGA Tour cards for the 2013 season, while all players in the final stage will earn different levels of status on the Web.com Tour for the upcoming year.
