Men's Golf preview: Stanford Classic at Cypress Point

WHEN: Monday, Oct. 29-Tuesday Oct. 30
COURSE: Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach, California (par-72; 6.536 yards). Cypress Point was ranked No. 2 in Golf Magazine's 2011 List of Best Courses in America.
TEE TIMES: The tournament will follow a match-play format. The first round will be four-ball play. The next round will be foursomes, and the final round will be singles matches. Each team will be represented by six players competing in both winners' and losers' brackets to ensure that each team plays on Monday and Tuesday.
Round-one matchups were predetermined based on averaging Golfstat and Golfweek rankings. Matchups are as follows:

(2) Washington vs. (7) Stanford
(3) USC vs. (6) Duke
(4) UCLA vs. (5) Georgia
LAST TIME OUT: The No. 2 Texas Men's Golf team tallied a fourth-place finish at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational in Windermere, Fla. The team carded a final score of +15 (879) and finished 11 strokes behind top-ranked California. Sophomore Jordan Spieth finished fifth at even par (216) to lead the Longhorns on the individual leaderboard.
