Stone named Big 12 Conference Men's Golfer of the Month

IRVING, Texas -- Texas freshman Brandon Stone has been named October’s Big 12 Conference Men’s Golfer of the Month, the league announced Wednesday afternoon.
Stone, who won the season-opening Carpet Capital Collegiate by two strokes, leads the Longhorns with a stroke average of 69.50. The South African also leads Texas with three competitive rounds in the 60s through two tournaments. He is the top-ranked player in the Big 12 per the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings and ranks second nationally among all collegians.
The freshman was named the National Player of the Week by both Golfweek and Golfworld magazines following his season-opening victory. Stone’s performance led the Longhorns in their NCAA title defense to a five-shot victory at the Carpet Capital Collegiate.
Following this week’s World Amateur Team Championship in Antalya, Turkey, Stone and the Longhorns return to action at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational on Sunday, Oct. 21 in Windermere, Fla.
