TANAGURA, Japan -- The University of Texas men's golf team opened its fall season by shooting a combined 284 at the Topy Cup, played at the Tanagura Country Club (Par 72, 6,080 yards) in Tanagura, Japan. At four-under, the Longhorns sit in first place after day one of the competition. Texas' total was made up of two 69s from senior Shaun Goodwin (Spring, Texas) and junior Matt Rosenfeld (Plano, Texas), two 73s from junior Matthew Mills (London, England) and Farren Keenan (Middlesex, England) and a 78 from senior Jeff Bell (Plano, Texas).

With a pair of 69s, Goodwin and Rosenfeld finished the day in second place on the leaderboard, just one shot behind New Mexico's Spencer Levin. The 73s by Mills and Keenan have them tied for 16th and Bell's 78 has him tied for 46th after round one.

The Topy Cup will continue tomorrow (Wednesday, Sept. 8) with second round action. Results will be updated on TexasSports.com after each round of play.
