Men's Golf ranks No. 11 in GolfWorld preseason poll

AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas men's golf program earned a No. 11 ranking in the GolfWorld/Nike Golf preseason coaches' poll released Wednesday. The Longhorns return three All-Americans from the 2009-10 squad that placed 21st at the NCAA Championships and won the NCAA East Regional Championship. Junior Dylan Frittelli, the 2010 Big 12 Conference Player of the Year, registered eight top-10 finishes last season on his way to earning third-team All-America honors from PING and Golfweek. Frittelli won one event last season, the National Invitational Tournament held last March in Tucson, Ariz. Frittelli ranks No. 10 on GolfWorld's "Players to Watch" list for the upcoming season. Senior Bobby Hudson added five top-10 finishes last season and picked up honorable mention All-America honors from PING and Golfweek. Hudson was victorious at last February's Mauna Lani Invitational in Hawaii and notched a win on the amateur circuit this summer at the Sunnehanna Amateur in June. Sophomore Cody Gribble, the 2010 Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Year, enjoyed a brilliant freshman season during which he recorded top-three finishes in his first three tournaments. Gribble added three additional top-five finishes last spring, including a third-place showing at the NCAA East Regional Championship in New Haven, Conn. Gribble earned a spot on the 2010 GCAA National All-Freshman Team. He garnered Golfweek second-team All-America and PING third-team All-America honors last season. Oklahoma State claimed the top spot in the poll and was followed by Stanford and defending NCAA champion Augusta State. Georgia and Oregon rounded out the top five.
