Men's Golf to be recognized at Saturday's Football game vs. Wyoming
Aug. 30, 2012
AUSTIN, Texas -- The 2012 National Championship Longhorn Men's Golf squad will be recognized on Saturday, Sept. 1 during UT's season-opening home Football game that kicks off at 7 p.m. The team members and their families will gather in the southwest end zone of Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium following the first quarter. The Horns captured the national crown on June 3 with a 3-2 win over Alabama in the match play final of the 2012 NCAA Men's Golf Championships at Riviera C.C. in Pacific Palisades, California. The title was clinched with a dramatic 30-foot putt on the 18th green by then-senior All-American Dylan Frittelli. UT's other two wins came from junior Cody Gribble and sophomore Jordan Spieth. The 2012 victory marked the first Men's Golf national title since back-to-back championships in 1971 and 1972 for the Longhorns. With the win, Texas secured its 46th all-time NCAA Championship team title and 49th overall National Championship for all varsity sports.
