Men's Golf ranked 18th in final Golfstat.com poll
AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas men's golf team received a No. 18 ranking in the final Golfstat.com head-to-head poll of the 2005-06 season.
Over the last 10 weeks of the season, Texas moved from 37th (4/4) to 16th (6/6) in the rankings thanks to five straight top-11 team finishes before ending at No. 18.
In its last team event of the season, Texas finished the NCAA Central Regional with a final score of 885 (+33) after rounds of 291, 301 and 293. UT was just one stroke below 10th-place finisher Kentucky to miss the NCAA Championship cut and break a streak of four consecutive team trips.
In 2006, Texas placed in the top-five at five tournaments and in the top-10 on nine occasions. In five out of 11 events, UT placed an individual among the top-five for the tournament.
Texas was also ranked No. 21 in the final Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index on and fourth in the South Central District.
