Lopez earns honorable mention All-America selection
June 8, 2009 AUSTIN, Texas -- University of Texas junior Lance Lopez has been selected as a PING honorable mention All-American, as announced Monday by the Golf Coaches' Association of America (GCAA). Lopez (Missouri City, Texas) competed in a third consecutive NCAA Championship for the Longhorns last month and led UT by tying for 60th place overall at nine-over par through 54 holes. Lopez scored his first collegiate tournament victory last month at the NCAA Austin Regional, which he won by five strokes at The University of Texas Golf Club. Lopez played in 11 events during the 2008-09 season and led the Longhorns with a 73.71 stroke average. One of four current Longhorns to win a collegiate tournament, Lopez added a 10th-place finish last February at the Puerto Rico Classic.
