Holland, Hudson named to PING All-South Central Region Team
NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Texas sophomore Charlie Holland and redshirt freshman Bobby Hudson have earned their first career selections to the PING All-South Central Region Team, as announced Wednesday by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Holland (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park HS), who has played in all 14 tournaments this season for Texas, earned All-Big 12 honors after posting a team-leading scoring average of 71.47. Holland won his first college tournament in March when he finished at nine-under par at the Fresno State Lexus Classic. Holland added top-five finishes this season at the Texas Cup (T-3rd), the Olympia Fields Fighting Illini Classic (T-3rd), the Puerto Rico Classic (3rd) and the Morris Williams Intercollegiate (2nd). Hudson has enjoyed a solid initial season with the Longhorns, and, like Holland, garnered All-Big 12 honors and picked up his first college tournament victory. Hudson ranks second on the team with a 72.42 scoring average and also has played in all 14 events. He set a new course record at The University of Texas Golf Club when he fired a six-under 65 on April 8 to wrap up medalist honors at UT's Morris Williams Intercollegiate. PING All-Region teams consist of the top 15 individuals in their region and any player ranked in the top 75 according to the GolfStat or Sagarin rankings who is not ranked among the top 15 players in his respective region. PING All-Region Team members are eligible for PING All-America honors. Holland, Hudson and the Longhorns continue play at the NCAA Championships on Thursday.
