Men's Golf tied for second at Hall of Fame Invitational

HUMBLE, Texas -- The University of Texas men's golf team remains in the hunt for the 2006 Hall of Fame Invitational title now tied for second with East Tennessee State after the second round, just seven shots behind Oklahoma State who fired a tournament-low 292 to move past the Longhorns on the Tournament Course at Redstone Golf Club in Humble, Texas.

Texas and East Tennessee State are tied for second at 17-over and followed by Oklahoma (+23), Texas A&M (+25), Purdue (+27), Clemson (+32), Georgia (+33) and South Carolina-Aiken (+34). Arizona (+36) checked in at 10th with TCU (+39), New Mexico (+42), Duke (+45), Arkansas (+46), Vanderbilt (+48), Wake Forest (+52) and Guilford (+57) completing the standings.

Anthony Kim of Oklahoma increased his individual lead to eight shots by posting 69 to move to eight-under. Kim is followed by Jonathan Moore of Oklahoma and Texas junior Jhonattan Vegas (Maturin, Venezuela) who are eight shots back and tied for second at even par (144) after two rounds.

Also playing well for the Longhorns and in the top twenty of the tournament after two rounds is senior Jeff Bell (Plano, Texas) and senior Matthew Mills (London, England). Bell shot a four-over par 76 to follow a first day one-over par 73 on Friday. He is currently tied for 13th with a score of 149. Mills also shot a second round of 76 today but is one stroke back after an opening round of two-over par 74 and is tied for 18th-place headed into the final day of competition.

Final round action tees off with a shotgun start Sunday at 7:30 a.m.
