Stone named Big 12 Conference Men's Golfer of the Month

IRVING, Texas -- Texas freshman Brandon Stone has been named February’s Big 12 Conference Men’s Golfer of the Month, the league announced Wednesday afternoon. Stone overcame a four-stroke deficit in the final round of the Bayou City Collegiate Championship and fired a field-best 67 en route to medalist honors. The win marked Stone's second of the season after previously medaling in his collegiate debut at the Carpet Capital Collegiate in September when he was also named Big 12 Men’s Golfer of the Month. During the month of February, Stone fired four rounds in the 60s (out of six rounds) and led the Longhorns with a 69.2 stroke average. The freshman is the No. 1 ranked individual collegiate player in the latest edition of the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings. Stone and the No. 2 Longhorns return to action this weekend at the prestigious Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters in Las Vegas. Tee times for Friday’s first round will be made available on Thursday.
