No. 17 Men's Golf takes 11th place at Puerto Rico Classic
RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico -- UT redshirt freshman Charlie Holland shot a two-under 70 to lead the Longhorns in the final round of the Puerto Rico Classic at the par 72, 6,902-yard Rio Mar Golf Club. Texas shot a 13-over score of 301 to end the 18-team tournament in 11th place at 18-over par. Georgia captured the 54-hole event at 14-under par while Georgia Tech's Roberto Castro took medalist honors at seven-under par. Holland (Dallas, Texas) was the bright spot in a tough final round for the Longhorns. Holland's season-low 70 in the final round matched UT senior Matt Bortis' 70 in the opening round for the best Longhorn round of the tournament. Holland finished the event at five-over par and landed in a tie for 39th place alongside Bortis (Springfield, Mo.), who shot a six-over 78 to end the tournament at five-over par. Senior Jhonattan Vegas (Maturin, Venezuela) carded a five-over 77 in the final round to finish at seven-over par and in a tie for 50th place. Senior Farren Keenan (Middlesex, England) shot the second-best round of the day for Texas, carding a four-over 76 to end the tournament in a tie for 57th place at eight-over par. Freshman Lance Lopez (Missouri City, Texas) ended the tournament in a tie for 67th place at 11-over par.
