Feb. 18, 2012
PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. -- Returning to Riviera Country Club to complete the last two holes of his second round at the PGA TOUR Northern Trust Open on Saturday morning, Texas Men's Golf freshman Jordan Spieth (76-71) carded a birdie on 17 and a double bogey on 18 to miss the cut by two strokes at 5-over-par 147.
Round 2 was suspended due to darkness on Friday evening. Eighteen players remained on the course when play was halted, and all but eight were able to complete their rounds.
Spieth holed a 20-footer on 17 to drop to the 3-under cutline before carding a double-bogey on his 36th hole in his fourth PGA TOUR start. He struggled on Thursday with a 5-over 76 that included two double-bogeys.
Spieth and the Longhorns now have their sites set on a return to Riviera Country Club – the site of the 2012 NCAA Championship – in late May.
