Men's Golf duo tied for 18th after second day of Hilo Intercollegiate
KONA, Hawaii -- Jhonattan Vegas and Jeff Bell are both tied for 18th after the second day of the University of Hawaii Hilo Intercollegiate at the Waikoloa Village Golf Course in Kona, Hawaii Thursday. Vegas shot a second round 74 today to follow-up his season low round of 67 Wednesday on the Big Island. He sits with a two-round total of one-under par 141. Bell shot 69 in the opening round Wednesday and 72 on Thursday to sit in a tie with his teammate. In his last two opening rounds he has shot identical scores of 69 to end the fall season and open the spring. Georgia Tech is in first place after the second round with a score of 547 (-21), followed by Oklahoma State in second with a seven-under par 561. Southern California is in third with a score of 565 (three-under), Washington and Hawaii are in a tie for fourth with identical four-over par 572s. Texas sits in a tie for sixth place with Oklahoma with a five-over par score of 573. Third on the team in a tie for 60th place is Farren Keenan with a second round 72, after an opening round of 76 on Wednesday. He has a current two-day total of 148. Matthew Mills is next for UT and sits in a tie for 71st place after firing a second round 76, followed by Jace Moore in 89th place, who struggled in the second round and carded an 83. Mills and Moore have totals of 149 and 153, respectively. The Longhorns will close out their trip to the Big Island on at 7 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10. After returning to Austin, UT will head to Puerto Rico to participate in the Puerto Rico Classic on Feb. 26-28.
