Jan. 15, 2010
JOHANNESBURG, South Africa -- Texas sophomore Dylan Frittelli shot a 5-over 76 in Friday's second round of the PGA European Tour's Joburg Open and is projected to finish in a tie for 152nd place after missing the 36-hole cut. Frittelli, a native South African playing as an amateur, shot a 3-under 68 in Thursday's opening round at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club's west course, a par 71 at 7,276 yards. Frittelli followed on Friday with his 5-over 76 at the club's 7,589-yard east course. Frittelli was tied for 41st place after Thursday's opening round. "It's always a great experience any time one of our young men can get into a professional event," UT coach John Fields said. "It's a big bonus for Dylan and our team, and we're looking forward to his return for our spring season." Frittelli and the Longhorns resume competition on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at the Mauna Lani Invitational in Hawai'i.
