Frittelli shoots 3-under 68 in opening round at JoBurg Open

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa -- Texas sophomore Dylan Frittelli carded a 3-under 68 Thursday in round one of the Joburg Open, a PGA European Tour event at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club. Frittelli's 68 put him in a tie for 41st place after round one. Neil Schietekat leads individually after shooting a 9-under 62 in the opening round. Playing on the par 71, 7,276-yard west course, Frittelli (Pretoria, South Africa) sank birdies at three of the first four holes and made the turn with a 32. Frittelli enjoyed a solid back nine, save for a double bogey at the 13th hole, but he added an additional birdie at the 17th hole to finish with his 3-under 68 on the day. Round two of the Joburg Open is set for Friday at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club.
