Oct. 29, 2012
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. -- The No. 2 Texas Men's Golf team split its matches in Monday's action at the Stanford Classic at Cypress Point. In round one, the top-seeded Longhorns coasted to a 12-0 win over eighth-seeded Michigan in the morning match before falling 6.5-5.5 to fourth-seeded UCLA. The first round match followed a four-ball format. All three Texas duos recorded 4-0 wins over their Michigan counterparts. Each match was worth four points, with one point allotted for winning the front nine, one point for winning the back nine, and two points if the team won both sets of nine holes. The teams switched formats and played foursomes in the afternoon match against the Bruins. UCLA claimed the win after splitting the final match. Texas will conclude the Stanford Classic Tuesday morning against the tournament host and No. 7-seed Stanford. The third round will consist of all singles matches. 2012 Stanford Classic
