WINDERMERE, Fla. -- Texas junior All-American Charlie Holland shot a one-over 73 to lead the Horns Sunday in the opening round of the Isleworth-UCF Collegiate Invitational at the Isleworth Golf & Country Club.
The Longhorns, ranked ninth in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Performance rankings, finished round one with a 12-over 300 to end the day in a tie for 12th place in the 18-team tournament. Alabama holds a two-stroke lead over Indiana at one-under par. Indiana's Jorge Campillo and Alabama's Matthew Swan are tied for the individual lead at four-under par after 18 holes.
Starting at the 10th hole, Holland immediately sank a birdie and went on to fire a 36 on the back nine before carding a 37 on the front to finish with his one-over 73. Holland heads into Monday's second round tied for 18th place.
Sophomore Donald Constable opened with a 40 but caught fire on the front nine with birdies at the first, eighth and ninth holes to finish with a 35. Constable is tied for 35th place with a three-over 75 after the opening round. Freshman Dylan Frittelli opened with a 37 on the back nine before carding a 39 on the front. Frittelli is tied for 47th place with a four-over 76.
Sophomore Bobby Hudson carded identical scores of 38 on the back and front nines to join Frittelli in a tie for 47th place at four-over par. Junior Lance Lopez opened with a 42 on the back nine before rebounding with a 37 on the front. Lopez is tied for 73rd place with a seven-over 79 heading into Monday's second round.
Texas tees off on Monday at 8:49 a.m. Eastern time.
