No. 5 Men's Golf takes fifth at Aggie Invitational

BRYAN, Texas -- Texas sophomore Dylan Frittelli fired a 2-under 70 and junior Bobby Hudson added a 1-under 71 to pace the Longhorns Sunday in the final round of the Aggie Invitational at the par 72, 7,146-yard Traditions Golf Club. The Aggie Invitational featured a format with each team playing six players and counting the low five scores toward its cumulative team score. Texas shot a 5-over 365 in Sunday's final round and concluded the 12-team event in fifth place at 12-over for the tournament. Host Texas A&M claimed the team title at 38-under par. Oklahoma State took second at 17-under par, and Texas Tech placed third at 13-under par. San Diego State took fourth at 7-over par. Texas A&M's Jordan Russell took medalist honors at 10-under par. Frittelli (Pretoria, South Africa) scattered birdies at the second, eighth, 10th, 15th and 18th holes en route to his 2-under 70. Frittelli tied for 18th overall with a 1-under 215 for the tournament. Hudson (Memphis, Tenn.) sank two birdies on the day on his way to his 1-under 71. Hudson tied for 23rd place at even-par. Freshman Cody Gribble (Dallas, Texas) scattered three birdies and finished with an even-par 72 on the day. Gribble nailed down his sixth top-10 finish in 10 starts, as he tied for eighth at 4-under par. Senior Charlie Holland (Dallas, Texas) carded a 3-over 75 in round three and tied for 38th overall. Freshman Johnathan Schnitzer (Houston, Texas), whose individual score did not count toward the team score Sunday, shot an 8-over 80 and finished in a tie for 64th place at 15-over par. Senior Lance Lopez (Missouri City, Texas) carded a 56-over 77 in round three and finished in 71st place at 19-over for the tournament.
