Frittelli, Hudson pace No. 5 Men's Golf through opening two rounds of National Invitational Tournament

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Texas sophomore Dylan Frittelli shot 4-under par through two rounds, and junior Bobby Hudson added a 1-under effort through 36 holes, as the Longhorns opened play Wednesday at the National Invitational Tournament at the par 72, 7,200-yard Omni Tucson National Golf Club.
Texas shot rounds of 291 and 288 on Wednesday and will head into Thursday's final round in third place at 3-over par. TCU leads the 13-team field at 7-under par, and host Arizona is in second at 1-over par. TCU's Johan de Beer and Baylor's Joakim Mikkelsen are tied for the individual lead at 5-under par.
Frittelli shot rounds of 73 and 67 to end the day in third place, just one shot back of de Beer and Mikkelsen. Frittelli will look to secure his fifth top-five finish of the season on Thursday. Hudson carded a 71 and a 72 and finished the day tied for seventh place at 1-under par. Senior Lance Lopez carded rounds of 71 and 75. He heads into the final round tied for 14th place at 2-over par. Freshman Cody Gribble and senior Charlie Holland finished the day tied for 45th place at 7-over par. Gribble shot rounds of 77 and 74, while Holland countered with rounds of 76 and 75.
Texas will tee off in Thursday's final round at 8 a.m. local time.
