WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i -- Texas junior Bobby Hudson shot a 1-over 73 to remain in the hunt for medalist honors, and freshman Johnathan Schnitzer shot a team-best 2-under 70 in round two of the 22-team Mauna Lani Invitational at the par 72, 6,913-yard north course at the Mauna Lani Resort.

Texas began the day nine shots off the lead in sixth place and ended the day tied for fifth place after carding a 4-over 292 in Thursday's second round.  UT sits 11 shots back of 36-hole leader Washington.  Oklahoma State's Kevin Tway leads individually at 4-under par, and the Longhorns' Hudson, who began the day tied for the individual lead, sits three shots back at 1-under for the tournament.

Schnitzer (Houston, Texas) scattered five birdies among three bogeys and parred the remaining holes to finish with his 2-under 70.  Schnitzer, who shaved eight shots off of his opening-round 78, is tied for 26th place at 4-over through 36 holes.  Hudson (Memphis, Tenn.) birdied the 15th, second and seventh holes en route to his 1-over 73.  He heads into round three in fourth place.

Sophomore Dylan Frittelli opened round two with a birdie at the seventh hole and added additional birdies at the ninth and 10th holes.  Frittelli (Pretoria, South Africa) also sank an eagle at No. 2, a par-five at 521 yards.  He finished with a 1-over 73 in round two and enters Friday's final round tied for 20th place at 3-over par.

Senior Charlie Holland birdied the seventh hole and finished with a 5-over 77 in round three.  Holland (Dallas, Texas) is tied for 50th place at 8-over par.  Freshman Cody Gribble, like Frittelli, opened his second round with a birdie at No. 7.  Gribble (Dallas, Texas) shaved five strokes off of his opening round and carded a 4-over 76 in round three.  Gribble is tied for 79th place at 13-over par.
