Reese M. Rowling Hall

Reese M. Rowling Hall on the east side of Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium houses The University of Texas Club, 62 stadium suites, the Touchdown Club suite area, and offices for UT Athletics staff members. Reese Rowling did not attend The University of Texas, but his love and respect for the institution was as strong as any UT alumnus, and his philanthropic support of UT academics and athletics was on a level with the most ardent Longhorn. A 1950 graduate of UT-El Paso, Rowling enjoyed a successful career in the oil business, including the founding of Tana Oil & Gas Corporation in 1972. He operated his business from Midland and Corpus Christi. Upon his passing in September 2001, his son, Robert Rowling, a 1976 UT graduate and a recent UT System Board of Regents appointee, sought a way to honor his father and the University he so loved. Robert Rowling and his family generously contributed a $5 million Longhorn Legacy gift to the UT Athletics' Longhorn Foundation. In honor of the Rowling family, the east side of Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium was rededicated as Reese M. Rowling Hall. Other athletics facilities that benefited from the Rowlings' generosity include the Denton A. Cooley Pavilion, the men's and women's basketball practice facility, and the Indoor Practice Facility (also known as "The Bubble") located at Frank Denius Fields.
