AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas senior RB Chris Ogbonnaya has been named to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Football Second Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Ogbonnaya has a 3.33 GPA in corporate communications and history. A 2008 Draddy Trophy semifinalist, he has already graduated with a degree in history and is currently completing his second major in corporate communications with a minor in business. He has taken the LSAT exam and is considering attending law school or graduate school in advertising. Ogbonnaya is a three-time first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection and a six-time member of UT's Athletics Director's Honor Roll. This season, Ogbonnaya has carried the ball 62 times for 333 yards (5.4 ypc) and four TDs and caught 38 passes (No. 3 on UT's single-season receptions by a running back list) for 458 yards (No. 2 on UT's receiving by a running back list) (12.1 ypc) and three TDs, including a 65-yard TD reception at Colorado and a 46-yard TD reception against Rice, in 2008. Ogbonnaya becomes the 29th selection to an Academic All-America team in UT history. The announcement follows Texas having 22 players named to the 2008 Academic All-Big 12 Football Team, leading the Big 12 for the third straight season. The Longhorns had 17 first-team honorees. Sophomore DE Sam Acho and junior OT Adam Ulatoski were also eligible for Academic All-America status after recently being named to the 2008 All-District 6 first team. The Academic All-America Committee and the CoSIDA Board of Directors chose the Academic All-America teams following selection to the academic all-district teams by a vote of the CoSIDA membership.
