TEXAS

HEAD COACH MACK BROWN
On the game:
First of all, I want to congratulate these players. As excited as the other team was and as many people as we had hurt down the stretch, for those kids and coaches to hang in there is a thing that happens once in a person’s career, not two weeks in a row.

On the comeback: I though Colt (McCoy) started it off with his ability to run, again. The fact that he had 106 yards rushing is really important for us. Not even as much on the zone read, but we do have the ability, because of our no-huddle offense when we get behind, we can catch up fast. A lot of teams can’t do that. I credit the offensive staff again for not giving up on the run. Some of the best plays in that late third, early fourth quarter were long runs while Oklahoma State was rushing the passer.

It was really the tale of two halves. They had the ball 54 plays in the first half, and we had it 29. In the second half, we stayed on the field and did a better job, defensively, of shutting them out after they went up by 21. When they missed the field goal, we had three timeouts left and I thought we had a great chance. I give a lot of credit to the kicker and the holder. Ryan Bailey kicked it straight through and there weren’t any questions.
Our staff did a good job of getting it down to two seconds so they couldn’t get it back. We were either headed into overtime, or we were going to win. I think that Ryan, our team, and our coaches all felt like we were going to win.

On Oklahoma State: I would like to congratulate Mike Gundy and Oklahoma State. Their last four or five games have come down like this. We did not expect them to quit at the end, and we knew they would run it down and have a chance to score because they beat Kansas State that way and they beat Texas Tech. Their games have just been who has had the ball last at the end of the football game. So, Mike did a great job. Their preparation was good. Their team is so well coached. They have had tough games with us, on and off, for probably half of the 10 years.

QB COLT McCOY
On the comeback:
I’m pretty emotional about it because I love every person in that room. For every person to believe and every person to stick with it that speaks for itself.

On the team’s resiliency: It’s just within us. I wish we could play like that in the beginning, I promise. I hate that it has to come down like that, but it just shows the toughness and shows the fight and shows the character of our team.

On the mindset trailing by 21: I never thought about any negatives. I was always positive. I kept my head up and kept my teammates believing in me. As you can see, when we believe, we’re going to do good things.

On his feelings after the missed field goal by Oklahoma State: We were rolling at that point. We had the momentum, and it was just a matter of us taking it down there. The guys stepped up and the guys made plays. I felt like I was able to make some first downs with my feet today that helped a lot, and I love my teammates. They’re resilient, and they’re going to fight, always.

K RYAN BAILEY
On the game-winning kick:
The entire team kept coming up to me in the fourth quarter saying it’s going to come down to the last kick. You always think about it, but you try not to, you just do the same routine.

On the game: Our offense played great in the fourth quarter, and our defense made stops when they had to. Oklahoma State played a great game, they’re a tough team.

On the team’s resolve: Our team never gave up, they just always believed. The entire second half, we never thought we were out of it. We always thought we had a chance. Luck went our way, and we had the chance for a last-second field goal.

DT DEREK LOKEY
On the game:
It was incredible. Oklahoma State came out and played really hard and really well and when the game is so fun and so close like that, it’s a shame that somebody has to lose.

On their defensive play: I think that one thing that really helped us was offense. They went out and drove the ball and scored and then we were able to get a stop. They went 99 yards, and we were thinking that if our offense can get 99 yards then we need to make a stop.

On Ryan Bailey: I knew when we got down there and called a timeout I knew it was in. That’s just how Bailey is. I’m so proud of him, he does a great job for us.

WR QUAN COSBY
On the game’s finish:
I don’t even really remember it was so crazy. It was amazing. We kind of lived off the defense, and they kind of did the same for us.

On Colt McCoy: He’s an amazing player, especially for how young he is. It seems like he’s been out there forever and done it a million times, and he’s one of the top leaders for this team.
