Tucker named Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week

Junior placekicker/punter Justin Tucker has been been selected as the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week for week seven, the Big 12 has announced. In the Longhorns’ 20-13 win over No. 5/4 Nebraska on Saturday, Tucker made two field goals and scored a total of eight points. His 27-yard field goal in the first quarter staked Texas to an early 3-0 lead. He added a 28-yard field goal into the wind in the third quarter to extend the Longhorns’ lead to 20-3. He was two-for-two on PAT on the day. Tucker also had two punts that pinned Nebraska inside their own five-yard line. The first was a 55-yarder in the third quarter that was downed at the Husker three-yard line and then his next punt went for 67 yards before it was downed at the Nebraska five-yard line. For the day he averaged 47.2 yards per punt. Tucker also excelled in his kickoffs, limiting the Huskers to an average starting field position of the 23-yard line. He also had two touchbacks. For the season, Tucker is now 11-of-13 on FG and 15-of-15 on PAT
