Fan advisory: UT asks fans to assist with home game security
AUSTIN, Texas -- UT Athletics requests that Texas football fans refrain from bringing backpacks to remaining home football games against Texas Tech (Oct. 22) and Kansas (Nov. 12) as a response to tighter security measures. Fans have been discouraged from bringing backpacks for the last several years, but stadium security officials hope to reduce the number they have been searching pregame. Searches of bags and backpacks also cause long delays at entry gates for fans. "We hope our fans understand that their safety is our highest priority, and this is why we ask that no backpacks are brought to the stadium," said DeLoss Dodds, men’s athletics director.
