HEAD COACH MACK BROWN
On the win and coming back after loss to OSU 9/10: I’m really happy that the guys bounced back. It’s a credit to the coaches and the players to come back and play as hard as they did, and its always super for us to come to Houston and especially to win here because its such a recruiting hotbed for us.

We dominated both lines of scrimmage from the outset and then that was the difference in the ball game they couldn’t run the ball, we ran the ball pretty much at will early against a team that has played well for two weeks. Those guys had a chance to win in the 4th quarter out at UCLA and Todd is doing a super job with them.

On the number of penalties: Have to address the penalties well look at the film and see what we thought of that many penalties and also we can’t fumble the ball at the 1 yard line. Other than that we felt like the game was really what we needed to get back on track. All the guys are excited about starting big 12 play next week.

QB COLT MCCOY
On coming back after losing to OSU 9/10: We knew were going to bounce back, we had a great week at practice. It’s tough to lose, especially at home. We didn’t feel like we had anything to prove. We just wanted to go out here and get back on track to the rest of our goals this season.

CB AARON ROSS
On tying the school record for punt returns: It was a great experience. My guys up front did a great job blocking, and I just had to make maybe one or two guys miss, from there it was to the house.

RB SELVIN YOUNG
On the success of the running game: I feel pretty good about it. We knew those guys did a lot of different things on defense with third down packages and everything, but all week Coach was just stressing technique, technique, technique.

RICE

HEAD COACH TODD GRAHAM
I told our kids we did a horrible job of getting them prepared to play this game. If we get prepared we’re capable of playing at a high level. We had an unbelievable amount of illegal procedure penalties.

Texas is a very, very, good football team and you absolutely can not come out and not be ready to play.

They are a very physical football team. We had a very difficult time tackling their guys. They are by far the best team we’ve played to this point, but this is also the worst game we’ve played to this point.

Punt return for a touchdown, fumble return for a touchdown right after a turnover...these are things you just can’t have against a great team. We knew what kind of battle we were going to have. Their offensive line is as good as there is in the country.

QB JOEL ARMSTRONG
Texas defensive line: It was uncontrollable at the beginning of the game. Texas had a good scheme on defense and they were just the better team tonight.

Everybody has to stick together and prepare better in practice. Being able to score 7 points at the end may not mean much to some people, but it meant a lot to us as we keep fighting til the end.

WR JARETT DILLARD
We need to give him the ball more and get him more one-on-one opportunities. He’s one of our playmakers and we try to get the ball to him.

DB CHAD PRICE
I feel like we weren’t prepared defensively and we cannot afford to start out flat.

Texas did a good job blocking tonight and if we can’t stop the run, then we will not have a chance to win.

When it comes to the passing game we can hang with anybody.
