Game time set for Football season opener; limited number of tickets available
Aug. 13, 2008
Texas' season opener against Florida Atlantic on Saturday, Aug. 30 will kickoff at 6 p.m. Central and will be televised live on pay-per-view by Big 12 Special Order Sports, FSN Southwest's pay-per-view division. Less than 1,000 tickets remain for sale to the general public for the game. Seats are $65 and fans interested in purchasing tickets can order online at TexasBoxOffice.com or by calling 512-471-3333 or 800-982-BEVO. Tickets for Longhorns home games are going fast as the Arkansas, Missouri and Texas A&M games are already sold out. Less than 1,000 seats remain for the Oklahoma State game ($80) and less than 2,000 are left for the Baylor ($75) and Rice ($65) contests. Bill Land (play-by-play), former New York Giants linebacker Gary Reasons (analyst) and former Longhorns defensive back Ahmad Brooks (sideline reporter) will call the action from Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The telecast will be available on participating cable television systems in Texas and nationwide to satellite dish customers. Suggested retail price is $29.95. A list of participating programming providers carrying the PPV game will be announced at a later date. Most programming providers will begin accepting orders the week of the game. Fans should check with their local provider for availability in their area. The game is being televised on pay-per-view because it wasn't selected for over-the-air broadcast or cable television coverage. Under conference TV rules, games not picked up for regular television distribution can only be televised live on pay-per-view, giving fans the option to watch a game they otherwise wouldn't be able to see. Participating cable and satellite TV providers will offer the game to their customers on a designated pay-per-view channel. The telecast will not pre-empt FSN Southwest's regularly scheduled programming.
FSN Southwest will replay the game in a one-hour format on Sunday, Aug. 31 at 9 a.m. Central as part of its new 'Big 12 No Huddle' series, which will feature condensed telecasts of Big 12 games throughout the season. |
