Meet the freshmen Q&A: Cayleb Jones

July 29, 2012

Why did you choose to attend the University of Texas? I chose Texas because it was the biggest on family and Coach Brown is very genuine. I felt most comfortable here.

What are your thoughts on the coaching staff here at Texas? I love the coaches. They bring a lot of life to the team and a lot of knowledge. They seem eager to coach, and that will make us better.

What do you think about Texas' facilities? Top notch. I think they're the best I've seen, for sure. They're the best out there.

What was your senior season of high school football like? It was not so great. We were 2-8 or 2-9 or something. I'm excited to play here, though. I just want to play and contribute.

How was it meeting your fellow 2012 recruits? I've known everybody except three guys for about the last year now. I've been to camps with them and travelled with them. Getting to know them better is fun. We've all become brothers.

How do you feel about starting your college career at Texas? I'm excited to have a fresh start with everything. I'm trying to carry on the legacy of my dad being in the NFL [former Dallas Cowboys LB Robert Jones]. I want to do the same thing. My cousin is a wide reciever at Auburn, and he's been successful. I want to be successful, and that's what I'm looking forward to.

What will it be like seeing your name on the back of a Texas jersey? It's going to be exciting. I'm looking forward to it. I'm just ready to be out there when the crowd is going crazy.
