Meet the freshmen Q&A: Adrian Colbert

Why did you decide to play football at the University of Texas? Why wouldn't you want to play football at the University of Texas? It's the greatest school in the country!

Are you ready for the college football experience? Oh, yes. I like the challenge, the schoolwork and the challenge on the field, of course, which will be my biggest challenge. Because you have to work. Nothing comes easy.

What advice did your family give you as you headed off to college? Get your degree. Don't lose focus on anything. If you do well in class, you'll do well on the field. That's just how my mindset is right now.

How has the whole transition to college been going so far? It's great. You have people talking to you all the time asking you what position you play. It just gets me real excited about this year's season.

What are your thoughts on defensive backs coach Duane Akina? Coach Akina, he's great. He's a great coach. He gets the job done, perfect. All his DBs are exceptional. He can turn somebody good into somebody amazing, which is what I like about Coach Akina.

What are your thoughts on head coach Mack Brown? Coach Brown, he's a great coach. I've watched him over the past few years, since 2005, and it really excites me that I'm going to be playing for him.

What goals have you set for yourself this summer? I want to make the dean's list. And I want to play, so I'm going to have to work hard on and off the field, of course.

What will be going through your mind the first time you see your name on a Texas jersey? Wow. I really can't answer that. It's going to be a great feeling, I know that, though. To have that UT jersey in my hand and know that I'm going to be able to play . . . .(smiles.)
