Young holds camps to impact community

June 17, 2010

On giving back to the community and his camp in Houston: (Houston is) the city that’s got a part of me in it and helped raise me and I always want to give back to my community because I love them a whole lot and they gave me a lot of support. Bullet Stadium is where it all started out there on that football field and this basketball court, so HISD much love. Walking in on this football field, walking into this stadium, just the whole weekend is awesome. I’m just happy to be here. I’m definitely happy to be here.

On holding a football camp in Austin: I always love UT and thanks for the love and I can’t wait to get down there to do my football camp on June 19, so parents bring your kids out, everything's on 10VinceYoung.com. I want to see ya'll come out. Then the golf tournament out there at the UT Golf Club. I can’t wait to get out there and spend a whole weekend down there in Austin. I’m looking forward to it.

On the collection of stars in Houston: I mean it’s the respect and the love that a lot of guys have for me. I just want to continue to reach out to a lot of guys that I feel like that I love and respect. I respect their careers and things like that, so just to see everybody coming out and showing love, it means a lot to me.

On the offseason: Football is going good, I’m getting better and better. I’m feeling more comfortable, the team is looking real good right now. We feel like with the guys that are missing and how we’re looking right now, we should be okay, but we take it one day at a time and continue to keep working.

On keeping up with the guys at Texas: Colt McCoy, I'm proud of, and Lamarr Houston, you know Earl Thomas, a lot of the guys, I’m so proud of them, especially to see those guys drafted. It’s well deserved.

On Jeff "Mad Dog" Madden: Big Mad Dog, that’s my boy, a lot of respect. He’s the guy that pushed me to work out more. I love him a whole lot and I appreciated all the love that he had. He’s the one that pushed me to work out even more and more so shout out to my boy, Mad Dog, much love.

On Texas offensive coordinator/QBs coach Greg Davis: He does a lot. He’s a smart guy. He really takes time with the quarterbacks. He wants to see us succeed in life and succeed as quarterbacks. I love his determination and his teaching. He wants you to reach your goals in the future.

On learning from Chris Simms: Chris Simms is my boy. I respect him so much. He shows a lot of love to me, he teaches me a lot, I ask a lot of question and he gives me a lot of knowledge and that’s why I respect Chris Simms so much because he doesn’t have to do that, and ever since I came to UT he took me under his wing, so I appreciate everything Chris Simms does for me.

On helping Colt McCoy: Colt McCoy is very extraordinary guy. To see him come in with a baby face and to see how he’s growing right now down in Cleveland, everything that’s coming his way I’m truly, truly happy about because he stayed patient and he waited.
