Bill Little commentary: A Mother's Day message from Mack and Sally Brown
This has been a very special year for our football program. It has been great to share our National Championship with so many people who helped make it possible. Every Mother's Day, we like to take a moment to say "thank you" to the mothers of our players. That seems particularly appropriate today. On a personal note, we'd also like to recognize the wives of our coaches and staff, who in their own way join Sally in serving as a "Mom" to 130 guys who spend some very important years of their lives here in Austin. A lot of times, you hear people say that a university is in the business of "building character." We appreciate that thought, but the truth is, our opportunity is to "build on character." The family values, and the "character" if you will, of young people is formed in the home. It is that base that forms the foundation on which to build. Mother's Day is a time to pause and reflect, and each case is a little different. Moms face diverse challenges. But each, in their own way, respond out of love, and they are the very best Moms they can be. Each of us, in our lives, have been given gifts. But the gift of a Mother's love is one we never had to earn.. To us, in this National Championship year, they are the real champions.
