Q&A with Pete Carroll

What do you think of your first Texas Pro Day?
This was huge to come and see the work out and all, and just to be on campus was a really big deal. Being in Austin was fun too, We got in yesterday late afternoon and tried to see as much as we could, just because I have heard so much about this town. It was really cool to be here. To have so much respect for a program and then to kind of see it inside, you can imagine it's intriguing to me. I feel like I've known Mack and Sally for years, but never seen them in their own setting. It's been great.

How would you describe the facilities?
The facilities are terrific, especially coming from USC. These are extraordinary facilities. I've had the pleasure of going through OU and Oklahoma State too, so to see how far off and how far behind USC is facilities-wise just harps on why they are building a new facilities building starting in the spring. It's cool to be around it.

What have your observations been on the Texas program?
I have extraordinary respect for everything they have done. The consistency and the level of expectations that they live with and have been able to live up to, they've done it. It has been exciting to compete against them and watch them in recruiting. In all of that, they were a constant. This is a great place to play football and be a part of this program.

What did you want to see from Colt McCoy in his workout?
Just to see him in a workout setting. This is not real football, this is workout, and I thought he did beautifully. I loved seeing him on the move. He is such a natural athlete, moves so well, and his foot quickness was good – his footwork was really good for all of the shotgun time he spent. That is one of the issues that everybody is looking at. He looked very comfortable and very natural out there.
